Cleankill employee wins top award at Lewes and Wealden Business Awards

Chris Davis being awarded Employee of the Year

Chris Davis walked away with the Employee of the Year award, sponsored by Hastings Direct, at the inaugural Lewes and Wealden Business Awards. The Employee of the Year award was open to any employee whose “determination has made an exceptional contribution to a business”.

Chris is currently the Service and Technical Manager for award-winning Cleankill Pest Control, which has offices in Seaford, East Sussex, and Kenley in Surrey. He has worked for the company for eight years and trains Cleankill’s technicians while coaching and mentoring colleagues through their own qualifications.

During the last year Chris’ dedication to his job has resulted in him being awarded the RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Pest Management - a ‘gold standard’ qualification designed to recognise pest controllers of ability. This makes him one of only three people in the country with this accolade.

Chris added this qualification to his Agricultural Biology degree from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and an Information Science Masters’ degree from City University in Islington.

This, and his 20 years of experience in pest research and control, has made him one of the best service technical managers in the country. This expertise is now passed down through the company, via his role of training and support for Cleankill’s other technicians.

Chris’ commitment to his work at Cleankill Pest Control has contributed greatly towards building a highly trained team able to tackle jobs that other pest control companies have deemed too difficult.

What lifted Chris above other employees was not just his breadth of experience, but also his devotion to the environment. One of Cleankill’s main objectives is to provide an effective pest control service, but with a ‘green’ agenda. In his spare time, Chris has retained a keen love of wildlife (especially insects and birds) and is secretary for the Sussex Ornithological Society. He also currently serves as the Conservation Officer for East Sussex.

Chris said: “The award was very unexpected – I felt very honoured and surprised to be included among such high-calibre award winners.”

Cleankill has been solving pest problems for commercial and domestic customers since 1995. Using the most up-to-date pest-control techniques and technology, the company aims to keep its customer’s pest free and makes sure it is at the forefront of the industry when it comes to the use of pesticides and non-toxic pest control methodology.

As an Investor in People, all Cleankill’s staff are highly trained and offer an exceptionally fast and efficient level of service. The company is a proud member of the British Pest Control Association, as well as being approved to ISO9001 and ISO14001. Cleankill is also fully accredited to the Altius Vendor Assessment, Safecontractor, Exor, Constructionline and Achilles Health and Safety accreditation schemes and aims to be recognised as a market leader for innovation and new pest control techniques.
